Equality and Dignity
We do not discriminate against staff, parents or pupils with regard to their:
- Gender.
- Gender reassignment.
- Marital or civil partner status.
- Pregnancy or maternity.
- Religion or belief.
- Sexual orientation.
Equality of opportunity and non-discrimination extends to the treatment of all members of the school community. All staff members are obliged to act in accordance will the school’s various policies relating to equality.
Our Behaviour Policy for pupils is always applied with no prejudice, either direct or indirect.
Likewise, we will guarantee that no staff redundancy is the result of direct or indirect prejudice. All staff disciplinary procedures are non-prejudicial, whether they result in warnings, dismissal, or any other disciplinary action.
Diversity and Representation
Our school seeks to ensure that diversity is visible and celebrated at all times. We aim for visitors and potential new families or staff to 'see themselves' reflected in our community. We encourage applications from all, and monitor our success in being accessible and welcoming to a diverse and full range of staff and families.
Prejudice is not tolerated and we are continuously working towards a more accepting and respectful environment for our school community.
Equality Objectives
Our School's Equality Objectives for 2022-2026 are:
- to aim for equality of opportunity and to foster good relationships in engaging parents and carers, tackling discrimination and narrowing gaps of achievement where they exist.
- to encourage community cohesion through a growing understanding of differences and similarities within a climate where respect is promoted and discrimination is not tolerated.
- to promote strong relationships especially with 'hard to reach' families and seek to understand the barriers to good behaviour and attendance.
