School Meals are cooked on site by our team of kitchen staff, headed up by school cook supervisor. The school meals service at Houghton School is provided by Leicestershire's School Food Support Service. Meals currently cost £3.10  per day.  All pupils in Foundation, Y1 and Y2 are currently eligible for a free hot meal, but there are many other children in school who qualify for free meals. Please enquire at the school office if you would like to make an application.

We encourage all our pupils to have a hot school meal, but you are also welcome to provide a healthy packed lunch (no fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate) or to take your child home for lunch. We have several children in school who have life-threatening allergies to nuts, so we are a nut-free school. 

From time to time, we have themed school meals which are a great opportunity for children to try out school dinners or have a one-off change.

We have a 3-week dinner rota. Please click on the relevant page. At Houghton, your child can pick from the green option or the red option for their main meal. We do not have options for blue, green and brown menus. Children will let their teacher know each day if they are having a hot dinner or packed lunch.
